THERE IS NO HIERARCHY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
In the world of early childhood education, there is a preconceived notion that there are some roles in our field that are seen as better than others. I have noticed this for years, but it didn’t hit home until last year. I won’t detail the experience, but it wrecked me. What was it that I noticed?
Let me be clear I have multiple degrees in education, but that DOES NOT make me “better” than someone who cares for children in their home every day. I will ALWAYS see myself as a childcare professional because those who provide care for children are giving everything to look out for the best interest of all of our children.
I am begging everyone who works in early childhood education to come together and lift one another. Please, for the love of our children, STOP seeing others as lacking and instead find ways to help one another become our best selves.
