frequently Asked Questions for:

asynchronous (Self-Paced, On- Demand) Online Workshops

HOw can I purchase self-paced workshops for my teaching staff?

The workshop platform Thinkific offers the option to purchase workshop sessions as a gift. When you land on the registration page, start by filling out the account and billing section. Next, check the box next to the phrase “This is a gift.” Once this box is checked, another section will open where you can enter the teacher’s name and email address. After purchasing the gift workshop, the recipient will receive a link to the session.

Can I Receive a Workshop Certificate for these sessions?

Participants can earn a certificate of participation for the on-demand workshop sessions. Each registered participant interested in earning a workshop certificate needs to fully complete the workshop they are registered for (100%) and complete & submit a knowledge assessment. You can find more information below on the knowledge assessment and states where the workshops are approved.

Do workshops need to be completed by a specific time after purchase?

Participants will have four months (120 days) from the date of purchase to complete each course. It is helpful to complete a course within a month of starting it so you can apply the skills learned during the session to your current teaching practices. If your course has not been completed within two months of starting it, you may receive occasional reminders.

What is a Knowledge Assessment? Why do I need to Complete one to receive a Certificate of Participation?

My courses are designed with application in mind. As early childhood professionals, we shouldn’t be asked to memorize information. Instead, we should be provided with information to apply directly to our teaching practices. The knowledge assessment is 3-5 questions (1 hr- 3 questions, 1.5 hrs - 4 questions, 2 hrs - 5 questions.) The questions help participants share the information gained during the session while considering how to apply it to their classroom teaching practices.

Most state childcare licensing agencies require a quiz at the end of a self-paced/on-demand workshop as evidence that the participant fully completed the course. I do not believe in the traditional assessment model, so I developed questions that help providers build knowledge and skills instead of rote memorization.

Can we use the asynchronous sessions for a group PD session?

I love to be a resource for programs seeking group professional development. The asynchronous workshops are priced at a per person fee. Programs interested in using a workshop for a group session would need to pay the per person fee. Discounts are provided for groups with ten or more participants. You can find the group pricing plan here. Each participant would need to complete and submit a knowledge assessment to earn a certificate of participation. If you are interested in using an asynchronous workshop for your group PD please contact carrie@transformece.com .
